Sunlight Mountain Resort is a unique, small ski resort in Colorado. It offers hundreds of acres of terrain for all levels of skiers. For families and groups, this resort is an excellent choice for a day on the slopes.
Located just north of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, this resort offers plenty of options for those seeking a day on the slopes. With 406 skiable acres, this area features two lifts, a base lodge, and a variety of terrain. Most of the terrain is wide easy blues and greens, but there are also some black diamonds. In addition, the mountain is home to a section of steep chutes. Whether you’re looking for a challenging day on the slopes, or a quick, relaxing day with friends, this is the perfect place to enjoy a little Colorado skiing and snowboarding.
Unlike many other Colorado resorts, this area is relatively affordable. A lift ticket will only run you a few dollars, and a lift ticket plus a night’s stay in a nearby hotel is less than $20. The slopes are a short drive from downtown Glenwood Springs, making it an ideal place to start a family vacation or a relaxing weekend getaway.
If you’re interested in a day of adventure, the mountain offers great snowmobiling opportunities. Plus, you can explore the mountain on a snowshoe or a cross-country ski. There are also some apres-ski activities, including a restaurant.
The Sunlight Lodge has been completely renovated and has new reception areas and a new apres-ski entrees menu. You can choose from house-made brats, chicken sandwiches, and a Sunlight signature burger. This mountain has some of the best tree skiing in the state, and with a little luck you’ll be able to find fresh powder.
With a great selection of intermediate and beginner runs, as well as a number of steeps, you’ll be able to enjoy a full day of skiing at Sunlight. You’ll also be able to take advantage of their ski school, which is located at the base lodge.
If you’re a little more advanced, you’ll want to head out into the glades for some fresh powder days. While you’ll have to wait for the snow to melt, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of Mount Sopris and the Elk Mountains.
If you’re looking for a relaxing, enjoyable and affordable trip to the mountains, Sunlight Mountain is a must-see. This small, inexpensive resort has a laid-back, yet fun atmosphere, with a large focus on family and group skiing.
The best part is, Sunlight Mountain is just a thirty-minute drive from downtown Glenwood Springs. It is also near hot springs and great shopping. After a long day on the slopes, you can return to the base lodge to relax in the cozy lodge’s fireplace and order some tasty meals from the Out of Bounds Grill. Also, you can enjoy live music at the outdoor service station, which has a new fireplace and canopy.
Although Sunlight Mountain is a bit smaller than its more famous cousins, it is still a must-see. The mountain boasts a surprisingly diverse array of terrain, with more than half of the trail offerings being intermediate.
