Aspen Mountain Lodge

Aspen Highlands Ski Resort is one of the best inbound skiing options in Colorado. This quaint little resort is a favorite among local old-hands. It is also a place where hard-core ski bums can push the limits.

While Aspen Highlands is a popular ski resort, it is surprisingly a bit small compared to its counterparts in Aspen Snowmass. Its total skiing area is roughly four square kilometers.

Although it may not have the most extensive facilities of the other Aspen mountains, it does have a nice community feel. The base area features a few pubs and an outdoor patio. There are even a few retail shops.

For skiers looking to explore more of the area, the Aspen Mountain Ski Concierge offers a wealth of services and adventure planning. They are a great resource for finding slope conditions, slope maps, and other pertinent information.

Uphill policy

The uphill policy at Aspen Highlands Ski Resort has changed since the beginning of the season. For starters, uphilling is now only permitted on the designated uphill routes. In addition, uphillers must stay on the side of the trails to avoid causing accidents.

A special pass is required for uphilling. If you have the appropriate uphill pass, you will receive an armband with a photo of Aspen on it. Uphilling is also permitted from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. During this time, uphillers must keep a safe distance from traffic and skiers.

At first glance, the uphill policy at Aspen Snowmass appears to be more relaxed. But the policy may change in the future. You’ll have to check with your resort of choice to find out their policy.
