The Aspen Highlands
The Aspen Highlands is one of the best-known and most-visited ski resorts in the world. The steep and challenging skiing on offer here is a big draw.
For advanced skiers, there are plenty of black diamond runs to enjoy, and the backcountry skiing here is also excellent. However, you should be prepared for a significant hike to access the more challenging terrain here.
Despite its small size, Aspen Highlands boasts some of the best ski slopes in all of Colorado. The front side offers beautiful groomers like Meadows, Kandahar and Gunbarrel.
The ski area is crowned by the Highland Bowl, which features some of the most challenging and humbling backcountry skiing in the country. The steep open bowl fans down to tight trees and some of the pitches are as steep as 48 degrees.
