Aspen Mountain Resort Lodging
A mountain resort is a wonderful destination to visit. And there are a number of different lodging options that are available. There are luxury ski-in, ski-out condos, townhomes, and more. But which one is right for you?
Alpineblick Townhomes
The Alpenblick Townhomes at Aspen Mountain Resort Lodging is a great option for those who want to experience all of Aspen’s finest attractions, but don’t necessarily want to pay the price of a five-star hotel. Located less than one mile from the gondola at Aspen Mountain, this four-star property offers an on-site swimming pool and gym, along with ski-in, ski-out access and complimentary parking.
This quaint ski-in, ski-out property is located within a mile of Aspen Highlands, Snowmass, and Aspen Mountain. It is also a short drive away from Aspen’s other attractions, including the Aspen Art Museum and the Mill Street Fountain.
In addition to its location, the Alpenblick boasts a number of other features that are not available at most other Aspen hotels. In addition to free airport transportation, there’s a heated outdoor pool, free Wi-Fi and a concierge. The property also has a laundry room and a hot tub. The condos are well-appointed and have a full kitchen. There’s even a carved-wood deck with wooden shutters, so you can enjoy the scenery in comfort.
The most important feature of this property is its proximity to Aspen’s other major attractions. You’ll be just a short drive from Buttermilk Mountain, and the Rubey Park bus station provides access to Aspen Highlands for free. Plus, you’ll have plenty of options for restaurants and bars in this historic district. The property’s proximity to the Silver Queen Gondola isn’t bad either, at only two blocks away.
The unit is also fitted with modern appliances and a host of other amenities, such as an indoor and outdoor pool, free on-site parking, a concierge service, and even an in-unit washer and dryer. If you’re planning to bring your kids, you can leave the errant tyres at home, as the condos come with ample storage for your ski gear.
The best part is that all of these perks are offered at a reasonable price. The average rate at the Alpenblick is around $1500, but the property is also a good value for the money. The property is a two-minute drive from Aspen Mountain and a 10 minute drive from Buttermilk, and the free shuttle service is a godsend for families and skiers who don’t want to lug their gear up and down the escalator.
The most impressive of the accommodations is the free skier shuttle that whisks guests from the condos to the slopes of Aspen, Aspen Highlands, and Snowmass. Depending on the unit, you may be able to catch a free ride to the Aspen Airport, but you’ll likely need to purchase an airfare ticket if you don’t. Other amenities include a concierge, a free on-site fitness center, and even babysitting services.
In addition to the standard condos, there are two other properties that are worth considering. The Casa Tua is only 300 meters away, and the Element 47 is a bit further off, but both are easy to reach.
Tyrolean Aspen Lodge
Tyrolean Aspen Lodge is a classic mid-range lodge located on Aspen’s Main Street. Guests can expect to be within walking distance of downtown shops, restaurants, and services. It also has a plethora of amenities to keep guests happy, from a golf course to live performances. Despite its location, Tyrolean Aspen Lodge is surprisingly affordable, making it a good choice for anyone traveling on a budget.
The tiniest bit of information about Tyrolean Aspen Lodge is that it is a family owned and operated property. The small size of the establishment means that the rooms are clean and comfortable, albeit a little tight on space. Its large en suite bathrooms are a plus, especially since the bathroom is located on the main floor. A small breakfast is also included in the price. The free shuttle that stops at the lodge is a welcome bonus for anyone visiting the slopes. There is a complimentary parking lot available for visitors. The property is close to the Aspen Recreation Center, John Denver Sanctuary, and Aspen Mountain. The ski area is a short walk away.
The Tyrolean Aspen Lodge is reminiscent of the small ski lodges of yesteryear. It still operates under the management of the Wille family, which includes a former science teacher, a former professional geologist, and a former skier who happens to be a pretty decent photographer. There are 16 spacious hotel rooms and one cottage, all of which feature the standard hotel amenities. There are also plenty of small details to enjoy, like free wi-fi and a free city bus route to the slopes.
The Tyrolean Aspen Hotel is a great place to stay for both the weekend or an extended vacation. The best part is that it is only a few blocks from the shops, restaurants, and museums of Aspen’s storied Main Street. The hotel is also only a few minutes’ drive from Aspen Snowmass and the Aspen-Pitkin County airport. In other words, it is the ideal choice for skiers who don’t have to drive for hours on end to get to the slopes.
A visit to Aspen is not complete without a trip to the aforementioned ski area, so it is worth taking the time to do so. Aside from its proximity to the slopes, the Tyrolean Aspen Hotel is surrounded by the best of the best, from a thriving arts scene to the aforementioned Aspen Mountain. If you’re in town for the winter months, you’ll want to make a beeline for the main event, but you can take advantage of the Tyrolean’s amenities any time of year. It is a great basecamp for exploring the mountain, whether you’re looking to hit the slopes or go for a hike.
The Tyrolean Aspen hotel also offers the only swimming pool in Aspen, and it is free to boot. Other activities abound, including horseback riding and bowling. It is not surprising that the Tyrolean Aspen Lodge is able to maintain a small and loyal clientele. The aforementioned amenities are just the tip of the iceberg.
