For some, staying in the Gunnison Valley is a must, while others may prefer to book a room at one of the many mountain resorts in Crested Butte. Whatever your preference, you’ll be sure to find some great deals at the best hotels in the area.

Nordic Inn

The Nordic Inn is one of the oldest operating lodges in Gunnison County. It opened its doors in 1963, making it the first hotel in Mt. Crested Butte. This mountain resort hotel is located right on the mountain, just a short walk from the base of the ski lifts.

The Nordic Inn’s location allows for ski-in, ski-out access to the Crested Butte Mountain Resort. A shuttle is available to take guests to the ski base area.

The Nordic Inn has recently undergone a renovation, retaining the charm of the original lodge while upgrading it. The lobby offers free wireless Internet, a shuttle to the ski base, a Jacuzzi, and a games room.

Although the Nordic Inn has 28 rooms, it is not an all-suite hotel. Each room features a private bath, cable television, and HBO film channels. Guests can also enjoy the outdoor patio, which has a new hot tub.

Donation Day

While the big blue blasted by snow and sleet, the quaintly named Crested Butte Mountain Resort is preparing for the sled laden months ahead. Known for its harrowing steeps, the resort has announced that it will offer skiers of all abilities a free day of skiing on its opening day. In addition to free skiing, the hotel will provide complimentary swag and a full slate of activities for guests to savor, as well as a few other enticing amenities. Those that don’t ski, however, are in for a treat, with free hot chocolate and bacon at the opulent hotel’s bar and a well-rounded breakfast courtesy of the alpenglow.

The resort is also encouraging patrons to contribute to its cause by allowing participants to take their pick of free lift tickets for the day. Additionally, guests can enjoy a complimentary buffet dinner.
