Monarch Ski Area Lodging

Monarch Ski Area Lodging

Monarch Ski Area is a family friendly ski area located in south central Colorado near Salida. It offers a total of six hundred and seventy acres of terrain for snowboarders and skiers of all skill levels. Aside from the slopes, the Monarch area also has a children’s center, a children’s ski school and a variety of food options.

The best way to get to Monarch Ski Area is to drive. You can take the highway that runs through Gunnison or you can drive down to Salida and then follow the Continental Divide Trail to Monarch Pass. From the road, it takes about a half hour to reach the town of Salida. If you’re looking for accommodations, you can book a room in one of the many inns or hotels in town.

However, if you’re looking for a hotel with a little more character, you might want to consider a stay at the Monarch Mountain Lodge. The lodge is less than four miles away from the ski resort, and it’s located on the crest of the mountain. In addition to its mountain views, the lodging features an indoor heated pool and outdoor hot tubs. There’s also a full service restaurant, free parking, and an extensive list of outdoor activities to enjoy.

Another option is the Aspen Inn, a hotel that sits on the outskirts of the ski area. It offers standard amenities, including flat-screen TVs, a balcony, and rooms that allow pets with no weight limit. Although it’s not the most luxurious ski resort in the state, you’ll find plenty of amenities to keep you comfortable.

For those that are looking for a more challenging experience, the Mirkwood terrain park at the Monarch Ski and Snowboard Area is a great choice. This area features steep, rugged glades and cliff drops. But if you’re looking for a more laid-back environment, there are many other trails to choose from at the mountain.

Monarch has a relatively large number of beginner and intermediate trails, and a few expert-oriented areas. It’s not a big-city ski area, but its location in the San Juan Mountains makes it accessible to a wide variety of people. Besides its steep slopes, it’s also a popular place to learn to snowboard.

During the winter, the mountain gets about 350 inches of snow each year. But if the weather isn’t cooperating, it can be quite frustrating to make laps. Unfortunately, the lifts at Monarch do not have high capacity. On Saturdays, you can expect to have a wait of up to twenty minutes for each lift. During off-peak times, the lift tickets are reasonable.

Those that are looking for more lodging options should look in nearby Gunnison or Poncha Springs. These cities offer a wider variety of places to stay, and the towns themselves are lively during the weekend. Other lodging options include the Salida Super 8 and the Tudor Rose Bed and Breakfast.

Monarch Mountain Resort is the best town hill in the Salida area. The ski area has the advantage of a base elevation that allows for strong snow preservation. While the ski area does have a few rough spots, you can often get a powder day in the late spring or early summer.
