Monarch Ski Area Lodging

Monarch Ski Area Lodging

If you’re looking for a ski resort that’s a little off the beaten path, then Monarch Ski Area might be your best bet. Located near Gunnison, the mountain is part of the San Juan Mountains in southern Colorado, and it’s a great place to get your ski on.

The area has plenty of snow and offers a variety of terrain. There are more than 60 trails at the Monarch ski resort, including a few expert terrain areas. It’s also a fun place to learn to ski and snowboard. This is particularly true of the terrain park known as the K2 terrain park.

For those of you who prefer to do some hiking while you’re at the ski resort, Monarch offers the Continental Divide Trail. Aside from skiing, Monarch has an indoor pool, hot tubs, and a spa. You can even take a rafting tour or two during your vacation.

While there’s no overnight lodging at the ski resort itself, you can find a variety of places to stay around town. A Super 8 and a Hampton Inn & Suites are both located within a short drive of the slopes. These two properties offer standard amenities like free wireless Internet and a microwave. However, they’re a bit expensive.

Another option is the Tudor Rose Bed and Breakfast. Located on a beautiful mountain estate, this lodge is about 30 minutes from the slopes. They have a full kitchen and can accommodate a large group. Their rooms feature King-size cool gel memory foam beds, a mini-fridge, and a queen-size sofa sleeper.

Another good option is the Aspen Inn, a hotel that’s a bit closer to the slopes. Their rooms have everything you need, from flat-screen TVs to a balcony. They also have pet-friendly rooms and no weight limit on pets.

On the mountain, the Sidewinder Saloon is a traditional ski-area bar, while Elmo’s serves up some solid food and a good selection of libations. Those looking for something different can take advantage of the grab-and-go fair at the cafeteria.

Monarch also has the Monarch Mountain Lodge, a small, family-friendly lodging facility that’s just a few miles away from the ski resort. You can rent a cabin for a few days or stay in one of their comfortable rooms. All of their cabins come with a private outdoor hot tub.

Finally, if you’re looking for something fun to do off of the slopes, consider a stop at the Moonlight Pizza and Brewpub. Featuring craft beers and pizza, this restaurant is a good off-the-mountain choice.

Whether you’re looking for a ski resort to spend a day or a weekend, Monarch is a fun destination for everyone. With ample skiing and a laid-back atmosphere, you’ll be glad you chose the Monarch Ski Area. Make sure to check out all of the other local attractions in the area, from the hot springs of Salida to the hiking and kayaking opportunities in Buena Vista. No matter what you’re after, you’ll find it in Southern Colorado.
