Salida is one of the best places in the world to experience world class outdoor recreation. It is home to many fun and unique activities, including snowmobiling, skiing, kayaking, and much more!
Snowmobiling: The heart of the Colorado snowmobile world awaits you with hundreds of miles of trails throughout the area. These trails are maintained by the two clubs that make up the local snowmobile association.
Whether you are looking for a day of riding or a week of adventures, you will find exactly what you are looking for. You can ride from town or even go out a few minutes to enjoy some of the most amazing snowmobile adventures in the state.
Skiing: The world famous Monarch ski resort is right here in Salida and there are many other great opportunities to ski in the area as well. There are also several ski shops in town where you can rent your ski equipment and get some tips from a local expert.
Mountain Biking: Fat tire bikes are a great way to get out and ride on snow that has been packed down. They are very easy to ride and have extra-wide tires that make them ideal for tackling any type of terrain, no matter what the weather conditions!
Horseback Riding: For a unique and exciting winter activity, you can try horseback riding in the mountains. A number of ranches in the area offer winter rides through snowy forests and across peaceful hills to beautiful views.
Art: The city of Salida is a Certified Creative District and is home to a number of art galleries and dozens of artist-owned studios. You can find a variety of locally made goods and artsy gifts at these stores.
There are also a few places to get a nice hot cup of coffee and some eats! Howl Mercantile & Coffee, Soulcraft Brewing and Tres Litros Brewing are some of the most popular.
Shopping: You can browse the finest in artisanal, tailored small-batch goods and the softest on-trend comfy clothing at Salida’s boutiques. From bespoke cards to candles cute enough for your favorite best friend, you’ll find the perfect gift in Salida at Howl Mercantile & Coffee and Yolo Clothing!
You can also shop for thoughtfully curated kitchen toys to entice your young cook. Beekeeper’s Honey Boutique carries granular honey pearls and confections while Scanga Meat Company specializes in charcuterie trappings.
Beer: Whether you are in search of a good old-fashioned IPA or something new and innovative, you can find plenty of local craft beers. The 27th Annual Brewer’s Rendezvous, held the second weekend in July in Riverside Park, is a great place to sample the newest offerings from local and regional breweries.
Christmas: The city of Salida celebrates the holidays with a Christmas Mountain Lighting and Parade of Lights every year on the day after Thanksgiving. The downtown shops and galleries are open late, and the streets are decorated with lights.
