Skiing

Snowmass is one of the most famous ski resorts in the world. It has four mountains geared toward different skiing levels.

It’s also known for its family-friendly nature, with a range of activities and Snowmass restaurants for the little ones.

The town of Snowmass itself has a strong creative identity, with public art, locally crafted foods, goods and spirits, community ovens and bike paths, and a thriving music scene. In the summer months, it’s home to a weekly outdoor music series and free concerts on Fanny Hill.

Snowboarding

The largest of the four Aspen ski resorts, Snowmass Colorado boasts a huge range of skiing and snowboarding terrain. It’s great for both beginners and experts, and offers more variety than Buttermilk Mountain and Aspen Highlands.

The resort also features a summer adventure park called Lost Forest that showcases alpine activities for all ages and abilities. It includes an alpine coaster, ziplines, ropes courses and climbing walls.

With plenty to do from sunup to sundown, Snowmass is the perfect place for families to enjoy time in the mountains together. Plus, the village offers a host of entertainment options, including open-air concerts and festivals.

Hiking

Snowmass Colorado packs a big punch for families, offering hiking, mountain biking and outdoor activities that are just as fun and exciting in summer as they are in winter.

From easy strolls to moderate climbs, there’s a trail for everyone in this beautiful Rocky Mountain community. Be sure to pack a map, water, snacks, sunscreen, rain gear and other essentials.

Biking

With its jaw-dropping mountain views and easy access via gondola lifts, Snowmass Colorado is one of the top summer destinations for two-wheeled gravity riders. As the first IMBA Gold-Level Ride Center in the world, Snowmass has a wide network of mountain biking trails and cross-country bike trails.

Trails for all abilities are available in the bike park, starting with Verde, a flowing 3.5-mile trail that begins at the top of the gondola. Alternatively, try the expert freeride trail Gonzo, featuring a mile of high speed berms, swooping wallrides, narrow cannon logs and elevated wood bridges with drops.

Cultural Events

Snowmass is not only the premier ski destination in Colorado, it also boasts an extensive arts and cultural scene. The city is home to a number of museums, theaters and other cultural institutions that offer fine art, ballet, music and film.

Theatre Aspen is one of the most popular performing arts venues in the area. Throughout the summer, it hosts live concerts, cabarets and other events that are sure to delight longtime locals and visitors alike.

Lodging

Snowmass is a ski-in/ski-out destination with numerous on-site luxury hotels and condos. The town also features a large shopping mall and shuttle service to Aspen every 30 minutes.

Travelers who want to avoid crowds can plan their stay for February through March, when tourism slows down.

There are plenty of luxurious upscale boutique choices around, including Elevation Hotel and Spa, Hotel Jerome, Auberge Resorts Collection and The St. Regis Aspen.

Dining

Whether you’re looking to grab a quick bite, a leisurely lunch or dinner on the slopes or in town, Snowmass offers a wide array of dining options to suit every taste.

For a relaxing evening out, Stark’s Alpine Grill offers fresh salads and savory entrees as well as an extensive cocktail and wine menu. Its slopeside location and stunning views make it a great choice for a casual meal with a view.

Or, retreat to the Lobby Bar for a delicious blend of flavors and regional microbrews, handcrafted cocktails and sharable gourmet appetizers. Its slope-side location makes it a great spot for a memorable evening on the mountain.

Shopping

Located in Pitkin County, Snowmass Colorado is home to the largest collection of ski-in/ski-out residences anywhere in the state. In addition to skiing, hiking, mountain biking, and more, there are also a number of bars and restaurants to enjoy all year round.

In the area’s high alpine village, you’ll find plenty of shops, a full-service grocery store, and a post office. It’s an ideal mountain town that’s a bit of a retreat from the glamour and grandeur of Aspen.
