Snowmass Colorado is a world-class ski resort and mountain community that consistently ranks among the best in the world. It’s renowned for its incredible terrain, mountain views and vibrant summer activities.
Located just 9 miles from Aspen, Snowmass offers world-class skiing and summer activities surrounded by 2.8 million acres of wilderness. Throughout the year, you’ll find 95 percent slopeside lodging, a variety of restaurants, unique special events, and music – all in one place.
Terrain
Snowmass Colorado offers a huge range of terrain for all abilities from mellow groomed cruisers to expert steeps, chutes, glades, cliffs and bumps. With the longest lift-accessed vertical in North America and a huge number of high-speed chairlifts, Snowmass provides ample opportunity for a fun-filled winter adventure.
Although it’s not as widely known as Buttermilk and Aspen, Snowmass Colorado is actually a very diverse ski resort. It caters to all levels from beginners through to the seasoned rider with easy groomers and wide open cruisers for intermediates, but also has plenty of single black runs and double black trails for the serious shredder.
The Hanging Valley Headwall area and the Cirque’s Burn Cliffs are a few of the most challenging terrain at Snowmass. They’re definitely worth a run or two for the thrill of ripping them. However, it’s the smaller off-piste tree runs that make Snowmass Colorado such an exceptional mountain for advanced skiers and riders.
Lodging
Snowmass Village is a small alpine community a short distance from Aspen, and it’s known for its tight-knit community, world-class ski resort, and family-friendly activities. The town has plenty of options for lodging, from luxury hotels to rustic alpine cabins.
Snowmass also has a wide variety of motels and budget hotels, some of which offer discounts on room rates. This is a great option for those who are on a budget, but still want to enjoy all of the comforts and amenities that a hotel has to offer.
The most conveniently located accommodations in Snowmass are those that are situated near the village mall. These are well connected to the slopes, restaurants and shops by RFTA bus.
Dining
Snowmass is home to numerous delicious, yummy-on-the-mountain dining options that make for the perfect après ski break. From savory soups and hearty sandwiches to fresh baked cookies, there’s something for every appetite.
If you’re looking for a sit-down dinner in Snowmass, Toro Kitchen & Lounge is a must-visit. It’s a Latin contemporary dining experience with Pan-Latin flavors from acclaimed chef Richard Sandoval.
There’s also an excellent menu of salads, artisan pizza and a variety of delicious appetizers. The sharable entrees are sure to satisfy even the biggest eaters.
Ullrhof is another great place to drop in for a super casual bite, conveniently located next to the Big Burn Lift at the bottom of Snowmass Mountain. Try their burgers (and veggie burgers), house-cut fries and homemade milkshakes!
Fuel offers a wide selection of quick bites and healthy smoothies throughout the day. It’s a popular stop for skiers, as well as locals and tourists alike. The coffee is top-notch, too.
Activities
A luxurious resort town beloved by skiers and snowboarders across the country, Snowmass Village offers something for everyone. It’s a place to reconnect with the mountains, the thrill of adventure and the joy of family and friends.
The slopes of Snowmass are a popular draw for all ages and abilities, but there’s more to explore outside the ski resort. From non-skiing Aspen Snowmass experiences like the new Breathtaker Alpine Coaster to a snowcat dinner high up on Snowmass Mountain, this winter wonderland offers endless fun for visitors and locals alike.
If you’re not into skiing, but still want to be on the mountain, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are perfect options for a more leisurely way to enjoy Snowmass. A new yoga studio in the town, King Yoga, teaches daily classes to help you relax and unwind.
