Sunlight Mountain Resort in the Roaring Fork Valley

Sunlight Mountain Resort

Sunlight Mountain Resort is an ideal destination for families looking for a day of skiing, snowmobiling, and exploring in the Colorado mountains. It offers affordable lift tickets, a family-friendly atmosphere, and a great variety of ski terrain. While it isn’t a mega-resort, it does have all the amenities of the big names.

It has a lot to offer beginners, intermediates, and experts alike. There are 67 trails to choose from at Sunlight. They converge at the same lodge, making it easy to find your way back to the lodge after a day of exploration.

The terrain at Sunlight is very varied and includes some great tree skiing. The area also features a couple of black diamond runs. In addition to the variety of trails, the resort has a nice mix of gladed areas. If you’re new to skiing, the terrain is not too intimidating.

Aside from the slopes, the resort also has an indoor and outdoor bar and restaurant. Those who enjoy a warm meal can stop at the Out of Bounds Grill, which features a selection of homemade soups and brats, and a signature burger. Another option is the lounge, where guests can indulge in a hearty chili Macaroni and cheese or Shepherd’s Pie.

For those who want to take a break from skiing, Sunlight has two local hot springs. Additionally, the resort offers snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling.

The lodge has been recently renovated, with a newly updated reception area and a new apres ski menu. New rooms and carpeting were added as well. The dining room has been remodeled, and stone work has been added in the lounge bar.

Despite its small size, Sunlight Mountain is one of the best ski resorts in the Roaring Fork Valley. It has a beautiful view of Mount Sopris, which is the highest mountain in the Elk Mountains. Plus, it has a unique set of terrain that is not usually found in this region.

It’s also the best place for families to learn to ski and snowboard. This ski resort has an easy, laid-back atmosphere, and the staff is friendly and helpful. You can get a full day’s skiing for about half the price of other mega-resorts.

While it’s not an expert-only ski resort, Sunlight does have some challenging black diamond and extreme double-black diamond runs. The East Ridge has a series of steep chutes called Aligator Alleys. Experts can also venture into the glades for fresh powder days.

Sunlight Mountain Resort is located in Garfield County, Colorado. This ski resort is just ten miles south of Glenwood Springs and is a great day trip destination. As a result, it has gained a devoted following, especially among groups. Unlike many other skiing resorts, it has no ticket muggers or long lines.

As a guest at Sunlight Mountain, you will have access to several free parking spaces. Those who wish to stay at the base lodge can do so, and they can use the hotel’s shuttle to and from the lifts.
