Getting Here
Angel Fire is located just over a three-hour drive from Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Rental cars and shuttle services are available to make the trip to the ski resort.

Angel Fire is one of the easier ski resorts in North America, with a majority of its runs rated as green or blue. It’s also one of the few in the country that has many beginner-friendly slopes.
Angel Fire’s Terrain
The terrain at Angel Fire is ideal for families, beginners and powder heads. The resort offers 560 skiable acres with rolling cruisers, glades, three terrain parks and one of New Mexico’s top ski schools.
The ski mountain is home to 7 lifts that span out over the resort to give you access to 81 marked trails. On average, the slopes see 210 inches (6.4 meters) of snowfall a year.
With 76 percent of the terrain geared toward beginners and intermediate skiers, this is the perfect spot for your family’s first ski trip or a fun day in the powder. The younger set will be happy with the tubing and sledding hills, while the older set can ride their way up to the 2,077 feet (633 meters) vertical drop – the second-highest in the state.
Angel Fire Resort’s terrain is incredibly varied, from easy blue cruisers to steeps and glades that will test a seasoned ripper’s skills. The resort also has two terrain parks: Liberation Park and Sweet Street Park, which will help you improve on rails, funboxes and multiple jumps.
Angel Fire’s Night Skiing
Experience New Mexico’s only night skiing and snowboarding on the front side of the mountain at Angel Fire Resort. There’s a total of over 50 acres of groomed terrain for your pleasure.
It’s a quaint ski resort with laid-back groomers, slopeside restaurants and lodging, and reasonably priced ski school. It’s ideal for novice skiers and snowboarders, or a family looking to spend some time together.
There are also several special offers for families with children that will save you a few bucks on lift tickets and lessons. For example, kids 6 and under can ski for free and grandparents are also covered. Additionally, 5th graders receive a free lift ticket with their report card.
Things to Do in Angel Fire
There are lots of things to do in Angel Fire New Mexico Ski Resort, including skiing on some of the best snow in the country. The area is also known for its mountain biking and hiking trails, a favorite activity of locals and visitors alike.
Angel Fire is also home to a scenic chairlift ride, which takes guests to a summit of more than 10,000 feet above sea level. From the vantage point, you can enjoy panoramic views of the mountains and surrounding areas.
If you want to take a break from skiing or riding, you can go for a snow tubing adventure. This activity can be accessed from the Nordic Center, located just outside the Country Club.
For those who enjoy a little exercise, there are plenty of fitness centers around the resort. The country club and community center offer a full fitness program, as well as an indoor pool.
