Taos Ski Valley – Family Friendly Ski Resort

Taos Ski Valley

Taos Ski Valley is a family-friendly ski resort in Northern New Mexico. This resort is a member of the Mountain Collective, and is located in a unique setting with a rich culture and history. The mountain has a unique character and offers excellent skiing and snowboarding.

The snow is very good at Taos, and the mountain is one of the best for dry powder in the state. This is because of multiple factors, including its high elevation (mid-mountain 11,000 feet), which gives it a unique advantage for snowmaking and producing fluffy powder. The mountains also receive more moisture from the northwest and this is what allows Taos to make great snow in colder temperatures, maximizing its potential for a long ski season.

You’ll find a lot of steepness and challenging terrain at Taos Ski Valley. The mountain has an average difficulty score of 82.8, which ranks it in the top 10% of most difficult ski areas in the country.

This makes it a challenging mountain for beginners and intermediates, but it is also very enjoyable for advanced skiers. There are many different runs to choose from, so you can get a variety of experience at this mountain.

Unlike most resorts, you don’t have to wait in line for lifts at Taos Ski Valley. You can get out of the base village as soon as you need to and you won’t have to worry about waiting in line at the top of the chairlifts, so you’ll be able to enjoy the mountain at your own pace.

The Kachina chairlift can be crowded, but there are other chairs that are rarely full. You’ll see modest lines building up in the morning, but there is no need to hurry, as the mountain does not typically attract the crowds of more well-known ski resorts.

There are a number of beginner slopes on the upper part of the mountain, which is perfect for young skiers. There are plenty of trees on these slopes to allow for safe, quiet learning. There are also many cat walks and connecting trails that are fun for kids to ski or ride.

You can purchase a variety of ski passes to suit your needs. These include a multi-resort pass with IKON, or a ski and stay package with the Mountain Collective. These passes give you access to multiple slopes and offer flexible dates, making it easy to schedule a day on the mountain at Taos Ski Valley.

When you need to plan your next ski day, be sure to download the official Taos Ski Valley app. This app will provide you with real-time information such as the weather, daily trail conditions, and more. It will also provide you with an interactive trail map, which will help you find the best spots to enjoy the fresh snow that the mountain has to offer!

The app is available for free download and can be used by both iOS and Android devices. You’ll have the latest information at your fingertips to keep you coming back for more!
