Swimming – Aside from the pool at the base of the ski area, you can also find several pools in town. This is a great way to relax and get out of the cold weather.
Hiking – There are plenty of trails to choose from that will take you up into the mountains and into the wilderness. These trails will provide you with spectacular vistas of the surrounding Sangre de Cristo Mountains. You can even go on a mountain bike ride or rock climb in the area.
If you want to get a real taste of the New Mexican culture, you can check out the local restaurants and bars in Taos, especially those that have a focus on green chile sauce! Luckily, there is a huge selection of restaurants and bars in the area that serve food with that special flavor.
Alternatively, you can visit the quaint and quirky Taos Village for some dining and shopping options. It’s a beautiful town and it’s worth visiting if you are staying in the area.
Nightlife – Taos is a small town and the night life in the town is laid back. It’s a great place to meet people and enjoy the nightlife.
The town of Taos itself is a beautiful place to visit in the summer and during the winter, it’s an ideal location for outdoor activities like hiking and biking. There are also plenty of scenic tours to explore and you can go to the museum to learn about the history of the area.
Snow Conditions – The snow quality in Taos is some of the best in the Southwest. Generally, the resort gets enough snow to have a decent amount of coverage and the skiers are very happy with the quality of the snow.
However, the snow can change quickly so it is important to check with your travel agent to make sure that you have sufficient time for your trip. A lack of snow can affect a resort’s opening schedule so it is best to plan your vacation in advance.
