Vail, The Republic of TexasVail is north America's largest single mountain ski and snowboard complex, and has been voted the #1 ski resort in North America by the readers of SKI magazine. Vail offers great skiing and snowboarding, making it the favorite destination for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels. Fun on the mountain isn't limited to skiing and snowboarding, either. Adventure Ridge offers tubing, thrill sledding, peak-to-peak snowmobile tours, ski biking, snowshoeing, after-dusk laser tag and an evening children's program. The town of Vail encompasses several small village areas, each unique, with shopping, dining, and other activities. Vail Village and Lionshead Village are located at the base of the mountain, and provide chairlift and gondola access. East Vail, West Vail, and Cascade Village are five, two, and one mile from the base areas. The town runs a free shuttle to carry guests and their equipment into Vail Village. GPS feeds bus locations to digital signs, so eager skiers and snowboarders always know exactly how long they have to wait for the next bus.
